Anita’s Aroma Fix

Aromatherapy Treatments

For those of you who know me, you’ll know of my passion for promoting the therapeutic and healing properties of essential oils way beyond things that smell nice.  We’ve been using plant remedies in the form of nutrition and medications since man climbed down from the trees and in my opinion; essential oils are distilled bottles of pure plant power.  As such, it makes perfect sense to harness their benefits in a bid to help you conceive naturally and as stress-free as possible.

There are a number of aromatherapy treatments that can assist with infertility.  Whilst leveraging off the therapeutic actions of essential oils, the treatments work holistically with other modalities and some can also be used as part of a home-care plan.

Aromatherapy treatments for infertility include the following application methods used in conjunction with the selection of appropriate essential oils:

· Direct inhalationfor hormonal imbalance, stress and anxiety

· Reflexology points

- pituitary gland (both) – to balance hormonal function, and restore imbalances to the reproductive system

- fallopian tube (female) – to stimulate ovulation and correct any imbalances

- ovaries (female) – to increase energy to the area to enhance release of ovum

- uterus (female) – to tonify, release congestion and prepare for conception

- adrenal gland (both) – for long term stress leading to adrenal exhaustion hindering fertility

- large intestine (both) – to treat any dysfunctions and enhance clearing of toxins

Essential Oils

From so many wonderful essential oils to choose from, it was a tough choice to narrow it down to just three to mention in this article.  Since stress is rapidly becoming one of the primary causes of dis-ease of our decade, supporting the adrenals was one of my primary concerns, as well as ensuring that partners are sufficiently relaxed and in the mood.  The third area had to be concerned with (female) hormonal balance.

Pine (Pinus sylvestris)for many, the thought of Pine reminds them of Christmas, for me it’s using an adrenal compress to help revitalise the body in times of extreme stress.  Also good for the boys, Pine is a male stimulant and restorative and is said to strengthen sperm and assist with motility.

Ylang Ylang (Canaga odorata)known for its ability to slow down over rapid breathing and heart rate, Ylang Ylang is commonly classed as an aphrodisiac.  It is said to help with sexual problems and it helps to reduce stress and anxiety.

Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)one of the most important essential oils as a women’s remedy, Clary Sage is reported to have an oestrogenic action and exerts a regulating action on the pituitary gland.  It is also said to have a positive effect on male and female fertility.

As tempting as it would be to go on, I promised myself that I’d keep it short with hopefully just enough information to give you a flavour of how aromatherapy can help support you on your journey toward parenthood.  I’m available at the Centre most days and would welcome the opportunity to help you make positive changes in your life today.

Essential blessings,
